I’ll start my thanksgiving message a little early for my public blog this year.

I just dropped off Julie S. to her apartment and Sally is doing taxicab service for her friend Charlene P. and I have the house to myself for writing.

We just got back from Thanksgiving service here at our Lutheran church here in Topeka KS. Our choir sang, and I’m glad I got my voice back for singing.

I’ve been thinking lately about the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday and down the road this Christmas holiday. But first I’d like to write about my thoughts about Thanksgiving.

I was not aware of the significance of the REAL meaning of Thanksgiving until I listened to Rush Limbaugh’s radio talk show program. Like millions of other folks I’ve always thought that the Pilgrims were saved by the Indians and then in return they sent the Indians to reservations. These stories are NOT true. If you want to know the REAL meaning of Thanksgiving, merely start listening to Rush Limbaugh and learn more.

So, what does Thanksgiving mean to me?

Firstly, Thanksgiving means to be to be Thankful to God for everything! We are but dust without God in our lives. I am particularly thankful to God for bringing Jesus THE Christ in our lives. I first asked Jesus to come into my life at the age of 15 when my friend Keith Loomis was killed in a tractor accident. I was his pallbearer, clear back in 1960. I asked Jesus for help and that gave me peace. I remember opening up the bible upstairs in my upstairs room on the farm during my time of trial, and the scripture verse stating my peace I give to you. I felt a great sense of peace back then. So, in a way, I thank my friend Keith L. for opening my eyes to Jesus. Thanks Keith, I’ll see you in heaven some day.

Secondly, I’d like to thank my wife of many years, Sally, for being my wife of many years. Sally & I have been married for over 39 years and she gave birth to two fine sons, John & Mark. Sally is my soul mate, wife, friend, and all around good person. Sally has accepted me just as I am, and to that I am very grateful.

Next I’d like to thank my two sons, John and Mark for being my sons. I’d like to especially thank mark for agreeing to be our caregivers someday when we’re too old to take care of ourselves.

I am thankful to my mother CeCe, for raising me to fear and love the Lord. Mom is a goddess to me. Thanks MOM !!

I am thankful to my siblings for being my siblings. You know who you are.

I am thankful to my relatives near and far. I have many relatives.

I am thankful for the Internet. That sounds really stupid to say, but without computers, word programs, etc.etc. I’d be typing all these thanks in long hand!
I am thankful for the telephone. I am thankful for all those techno gadgets, but to be honest, I only use these gadgets to the glory of Jesus Christ. I am thankful that I am able to type on a computer.

I am thankful for our home. Our home is mortgage free we have a little bit of home equity loan to pay off, then we’re DEBT FREE!

I’m thankful for Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University program and thankful our church is starting the 13-week course in January 2009. I’d like to thank myself in introducing the program to the church council.

I’d like to thank Ann E. for introducing us to RELIV.

I’d like to thank our government for what I don’t know.

I’d like to thank God for giving me a sense of humor.

I’d like to thank God for giving me a singing voice.

I’d like to thank God for giving us Charlie, our dog.

I’d like to thank God for NOT me winning the Topeka mayor’s race back in 2003 & 2005.

BLACK FRIDAY (the day after)

Yesterday was another interesting day. Mark, Sal & I went to the EXPO center AG hall to celebrate Thanksgiving dinner with our “friends”. According to the news, the organizers were anticipating perhaps 1,000 folks. So why NOT get another free meal. Of course there’s all kinds of way to contribute to this community event. This year we’re going to contribute with money.

While there we visited with folks that were down on there luck. I met a Brian who was fired from his job. We talked about getting unemployment. Sally visited with a couple that needed a ride to their motel room. They too needed a hand up. We gave them our business card.

Last night we played a game called “Topeka (on board)” , similar to Monopoly. It was a fun board game. I WON! Lol. Unlike the monopoly games in the past, going to jail was going to Wendy’s. there can be no selling,buying, renting income when in jail. What a neat concept! Going to jail for punishment! I like that!

No !! I CHOOSE not to participate in the zoos at the mall.

I purchased a BIG turkey this year and am going to BRINE the turkey. This will be a NEW experiment. Wish me well.

Guess I’ll post this to my public blog.

Positive replies are welcome. Leave your negative comments stuck in your brain. This blog is ½ full with positive things to write about. All you nay Sayers can hang around in naysay liberal jail. I choose to remain positive.

Topeka Confiree

11/26/2008 5:59:38 AM

Well I did it.

Last night I was the only conferee in the public comment here in city hall.

While there I decided to declare my presidential aspirations for 2012.

I passed the hat for donations.

We’ll see how far that gets.

I’m going to write this am about the price of using the Internet, the web, cyberspace, or whatever else you might want to call it.

Yesterday I coughed up a cool $400.00 just to keep our 4 cable TV’s ready and usable and connected to the world. The company was Bear communication out of Lawrence KS. When I wrote the check , I wrote it to “Bear Communication”, but was told later to make the check out to “Steve McQuay, a private contractor. Steve spent all afternoon wall fishing the four tv’s and I spent all day moving stuff around for Steve. What a mess !! Sally and I are going to need to have an organizational meeting, well, I guess I’ll need one with myself mainly. So Steve gets our new cables installed and the main TV downstairs STILL does not work going through the box. So now I have COX communication specialist coming over this afternoon. Whatever happened to the old days with black and white TV and folks communicating over the kitchen table, eyeball to eyeball? I miss those days!

Guess I’ll get my second cup of coffee and look at my blank TV screen for awhile.

I am pleased to announce that our church will be starting a Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University class. You can blame me. Yesterday we had our preview class and it went well. I’m hoping that we get enough interested families. Sally & I are lifetime members.

So many websites, so little time!

That’s the subject of my writing this AM.

I just joined a couple more social sites, and I’ll post them to my home page just as soon as I get a ROUNTTOIT. Ever see one of those tokens? A rountoit is a little wooden poker chip that says ‘TOIT” on it. Whenever I get in a procrastination mood, like all last week, I need to pull out my “tuit” button. For example, the lower bathroom still has the stool off. Imagine that! Here it’s been almost a week with ONE bathroom for two of us! Imagine what our home would be like if we had teenage daughters living with us! But I have a good excuse.. I’VE BEEN SICK! I haven’t even turned on my computer! Now that’s being sick! I have no idea what my stocks are doing, nor do I care anymore. Why go to your portfolio when you know that there’s nothing there to brag about!

The good news is, I’m feeling better and ready to blog again too. Guess I’ll post this to my public blog.

The Obama Swirl Cake

A cake you will never forget

The flavor is one sufficient to describe everyone’s President what a joy. what a joy;

He said to tastes of him and gave of himself to people all over the world a mix of a cake;

The ingredients was poured into a bowl, you know the Constitutional bowl;

The Great Melting Pot of America, a pot filled with people from all over the world;

Different nationalities, cultures, religions, genders and beliefs, I need to mix this as one;

No one can be left out of this mixing bowl in a White House built for all;

The greatest campaign team in the history of America was stirred at a high degree;

Not at Princeton, Yale or Chicago School of Law but in Harvard he made it you see;

The bowl is still mixing and its not slowing down as it circles and swipes about;

Meeting people in very high places and leaving them with no reasonable doubt;

The Queen of Talk Shows Oprah Winfrey stepped out and stirred the mix even better;

Michelle was there with encouragement in hand and sound prayer to support her man;

What flavor will the cake turn out to be the mighty powers were now all in;

Mixed by the best chef’s delicacies with two little tasters at hand;

Malia had the spoon and Sasha had the bowl in support of dad a great man;

They gave the chef the final okay saying the mix is yummy so please do not change;

This will be the best cake ever in the White House there is nothing you need to add;

Heaven has opened and poured out a blessing that God baked as long as he could;

A cake prepared for the world to eat and I am certain every slice will be good;

What a preparation period, going back to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. you see;

I have a dream of a great cake that will taste so good it will carry all Americans through;

Just believe in the dream and keep the vision going I promise it all will come true;

Just keep rolling the doe and stir the mix, Lord what a great cake he is going to fix;

There is a start and finish to everything the bowl, the mix and the batter;

In the beginning God joined the two together, mother, Ann Dunham and father Barack;

What a pair brought before God in heaven a cake was being made of so many flavors;

Before the foundation of the earth it was already done, Barack Obama had already won;

Before Obama was formed in the womb the seed was blessed, the victory was complete;

God had already ordained him a profit before the nation;

Testers will try your cake and understand the delight of your many flavors;

Not Black or White, Jewish or Greek even Hebrew I must add but a flavor all can enjoy;

This cake could no longer wait, Obama put in human form and made for the entire world;

And since there are so many flavors to this cake we will call it “The Obama Swirl.”

Date: November 14, 2008

Place: Camp Phoenix, Kabul Afghanistan

Reason: To let the world know that we all are filled

with many flavors, only our bloodline

is the same. In the beginning were Adam and Eve,

cultural differences were all created by man. Let us

cut this cake together and please enjoy your dessert.

Getting over the FLU.

Friday, November 21, 2008

11/21/2008 8:00:10 AM

Ok, I’ve been sick. No biggies, just the flu. You know, temp around 101, dia … and all the crap that goes with it.

I’ve been close to porcelain and my favorite chair.
My laptop is acting up again too. Gotta go!

11/21/2008 11:22:22 AM

I’m Back !!!!

And I found out that my laptop got a virus and caused me unnecessary grief!

Where was I?

Oh ya, I’ve been sick. No big deal, just the FLU with the accompanying DIA .. and all it’s symptoms. I can still write to my laptop though! Does anybody care?

What are everybody’s plans for Thanksgiving?

My plans are the same as last year. Mark, Sally & I will go visit the EXPO center and receive a free meal. We also volunteer to serve, but it seems that they have plenty of volunteers. I’ll probably have Sally go to the store and buy want ever they need.

If only we could finish our family to include John, Kim & Madeline.

Guess I’ll post this to my public blog before my laptop decides to go berserk again.

I received this from listening to Shaun Hannity who referenced Matt Drudge.

My Saddest moments

11/19/2008 7:37:37 AM

My laptop healed itself!J

I get back from the computer store expecting my mouse to go berserk again, causing me undue grief. WHALLA !!!, the laptop is running just fine! I can type again!

Thanks to Jim Driggers at the new location at the old Donaldson’s jewelers for doing whatever the computer staff did to fix it! My laptop is my life! I know I know, it’s still just a machine! Some people fall in love with things, like cars, guns, etc. .. I’ve fallen in love with the Internet.

Speaking of the web, I’ve updated my blog and added and to my blog.htm link.

This AM I got to thinking of the saddest I’ve been. Here’s the order of my saddest times in my 63 years of living.

Here’s my list:

1) Losing my friend Keith Loomis when I was 15 years old. I turned my life to Jesus because of his accidental horseplay death. We were going to be confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Bruce SD. I have ONE photo of Keith somewhere in one of my computers or floppy, etc.
2) My father’s death in May 1977
3) My wife’s depression
4) My son John’s illness whe n he was 21 years old.
5) Unable to see my only grand child , Madeline.

Guess I’ll post this to my public blog.

I’m back!!

Well, I don’t have a clue if my laptop is still messed up or not. I took my computer into the computer store here in Topeka KS and they could not fit my keyboard with a new keyboard. So I took it home and now it WORKS! At least it works for a little bit. Time will tell if the laptop will start acting up again. The machine is under warranty so I called DELL and they are sending me another keyboard. I guess I’ll keep it at home and have the computer store replace it only when needed.
In the meantime, I’ve also started a new website. Stay tuned.

I hand wrote a letter to John & Kim too and scanned the letter.

I’m watching FOX news and there’s a bad fire in California. What a travesty. I wonder how it got started?

Our downstairs toilet will need to be redone. The stool as plugged up and I had to call a plumber. No, I did not call Joe the plumber J I called Redman the Plumber to the tune of $85.00. But the stool is now clear and now comes a redo in our lower level. We live in a bi-level paid for home.

Today I’ve been asked to be a mentor speaker for our LYO group here at OSLC. I’m looking forward to that.

My keyboard is acting up. The right arrow key is stuck and will take over my laptop. Need to get that fixed too !! I continue to ask myself “If this computer has no emotion, why is it making me frustrated?”

Guess I post this to my public blog and gt ready for church.

11/15/2008 6:42:25 AM

Yes indeed, it’s just another day for us retirees. But I always look forward to Saturday as that’s the day that FOX TV has there Business reports. I start my TV listening with Red/Green on PBS at 8:00 AM and immediately switch channels to FOX as I can’t stand that astrologer guy. It’s fun getting all those stock tips, plug them into my computer and await the results. Usually they’re wrong. The only ones I listen to mostly are Neil Cavuto and the chartman, Gary B. Smith. With the stock market going in a roller coaster ride, it’s all important to have good computer software and know what you’re doing before investing in the market. Just ask millions of folks now looking for a job and living hand to mouth. I know .. Sally & I have been there, done that, and it’s not pretty. At least we pay our bills. Now if someone could just go after the thieves who have stolen the folks 401K and made it into a 201K! Who could that be? Let’s start naming names. How about Barney Franks, the pervert. How about Chris Dodd, the arrogant politician. How about all those AIG chief embezzlement officers living off our taxpayer monies in resorts.. How about the chief FRAUD officers telling the folks that all is well.

One of the shining lights in our personal financial world is our good friend and advisor Roger Shumaker. Thanks ole’ Rog.

Sally & I use outlook Express for our email program. OE is a very good email program. Like any computer one must be very careful by doing a “reply to all” in one’s correspondence. Many folks don’t want to be bothered by those pesky emails wanting to help you with your sexual problems, etc. I don’t know how many ways I can pay off my already paid off mortgage.
Remember, the wonderful world of cyberspace, also has bad people in there. Just be AWARE that there’s pedophiles who would like nothing more than to clean out your wallet or your life using your PERSONAL computer.

Just a warning my friends.

Brewster Charity Bazaar will be held on Saturday, November 22, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. All items are hand-made and are unique. There is also a Bake Sale. The sale is held in the Main Building at Brewster and you are cordially invited to attend. All proceeds are divided between 18 selected charities in the Topeka community.

Volunteers Needed! We need one acolyte for the Thanksgiving Eve service, Wed., Nov. 26 at 7 pm. Please contact the church office if you can help.

We will be offering Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University courses beginning in January. There will be four preview sessions for you to have an opportunity to learn more about the course and to ask questions. These preview sessions will be on Sunday, Nov. 23 @ 10:30 am; Sat., Dec. 6 @ 4 pm; Sun., Dec. 7 @ 10:30; Thur., Dec. 11 @ 6:30 pm. Watch for more information in upcoming bulletins and the Dialog.

For daily Bible readings and devotions, go to

Midweek Next Week

I will be out of the office next week from Wed. through Fri. The Midweek will be sent out Tuesday afternoon, so if you have any announcements, please get them to me by noon on Tuesday.

Presented by the National Council of Churches USA, produced by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America Native Nations, hosted by Peter Coyote, chronicles the American Indians’ struggle for civil rights, and the creation of the National Indian Lutheran Board to raise funds and awareness for that struggle. From the controversy surrounding the 1862 trial when 38 Dakota Sioux were executed in the largest single-day mass hanging in United States history, to the confrontation of the 1960s when many Indian tribes joined together to speak out with a unified voice, Native Nations tells the story of standing together for sovereignty, justice and civil rights.

Passing Time, Saving Lives

Is your boss on your case about wasting time online? You may get a break if you explain you’re being benevolent, not lazy. At a fun vocabulary game will not only test your intelligence, but for each question you answer correctly, 20 grains of rice will be donated to help end hunger. Since its launch in Oct. 2007, FreeRice has donated more than 40 billion grains of rice and fed more than 1 million hungry people. (World Ark, Nov/Dec, 2008).

I am pleased that our church is signing on to FPU. I will be a counSelor.

Sally & I have a little bit of home equity that needs to be paid off. I want the bail out money to pay off in full so we can go to some resort like AIG. It’s just NOT FAIR!

Wednesday, November 12, 2008

SARAH PALIN : Before it got to the other side, I shot the chicken, cleaned and dressed it, and had chicken burgers for lunch.
BARACK OBAMA : The chicken crossed the road because it was time for a change! The chicken wanted change!
JOHN MC CAIN : My friends, that chicken crossed the road because he recognized the need to engage in cooperation and dialogue with all the chickens on the other side of the road.
HILLARY CLINTON : When I was First Lady, I personally helped that litt le chicken to cross the road. This experience makes me uniquely qualified to ensure right from Day One that every chicken in this country gets the chance it deserves to cross the road. But then, this really isn't about me.
GEORGE W. BUSH: We don't really care why the chicken crossed the road. We just want to know if the chicken is on our side of the road, or not. The chicken is either against us, or for us. There is no midd le ground here.
DICK CHENEY : Where's my gun?
COLIN POWELL : Now to the left of the screen, you can clearly see the satellite image of the chicken crossing the road.
BILL CLINTON : I did not cross the road with that chicken. What is your definition of chicken?
AL GORE : I invented the chicken.
JOHN KERRY : Although I voted to le t the chicken cross the road, I am now against it! It was the wrong road to cross, and I was misle d about the chicken's intentions. I am not for it now and will remain against it.
AL SHARPTON : Why are all the chickens white? We need some black chickens.
DR. PHIL : The prob le m we have here is that this chicken doesn't realize that he must first deal with the prob le m on this side of the road before it goes after the prob le m on the other side of the road. What we need to do is help him realize how stupid he's acting by not taking on his current prob le ms before adding new prob le ms.
OPRAH : Well, I understand that the chicken is having problems, which is why he wants to cross this road so bad. So instead of having the chicken le arn from his mistakes and take falls, which is a part of life, I'm going to give this chicken a car so that he can just drive across the road and not live his life like the rest of the chickens.
ANDERSON COOPER, CNN: We have reason to believe there is a chicken, but we have not yet been allowed access to the other side of the road.

DR SEUSS : Did the chicken cross the road? Did he cross it with a toad? Yes, the chicken crossed the road, but why it crossed I've not been told.
ERNEST HEMINGWAY : To die in the rain, alone.
GRANDPA : In my day we didn't ask why the chicken crossed the road. Somebody told us the chicken crossed the road, and that was good enough.
ARISTOTLE : It is the nature of chickens to cross the road.
ALBERT EINSTEIN : Did the chicken really cross the road, or did the road move beneath the chicken?
COLONEL SANDERS : Did I miss one?

Yesterday was a day to honor US Veterans. I drove over to the Great Overland Station and was honored, along with a few others. It’s hard to be in more than one place at a time. So many public places to choose from, so little time. So I chose to attend the tribute at the old train station, and I’m glad I did. I ran into Les Wenger and a few others. Les is my neighbor here in SW Topeka. We exchanged pleasantries and people we mutually knew. It was fun. Of course I gave Les my card.

My good friend Sonny Scroggins made the Internet national media also through our local paper too. I’ll write about that in a separate blog someday.

Sally also wrote to the letters to the editor also, and they published her letter. Of course I had to reply to her letter in the blog format.

So many blogs, so little time.

Now if I could only get some of my bucket list numbers crossed off.

With my wife Sally’s letter to the editor to our local paper, I’m inspired to write.

Here’s my idea.

In regards to our city government, I’d like to thank our city manager for staying here in Topeka KS.

Here’s an idea to make our city government more efficient.

City manager: 1 x 137.5K
Mayor 1 x 20.0 K
City Council 9 X 10 K

Total 247.5 K

City Manager 1 x 35.35 K
Mayor 2 x 35.35 K
City council 4 x 35.35 K

TOTAL 247.5 K

As the writer of this blog, I will charge the city government only 2.5 K for my consulting services. This will make it easier for the city finance to make it a nice round figure to 250 K

Details to follow in my public blog.

WOW! I told Sally last night that I know very little about options. But I’m willing to learn! That’s the whole crux about trading options.

I just got back from KCMO and spent two days learning about trading options.

I only wish I would have taken this training years ago. I told the instructor that I learned more the first hour than I learned in 20 years. He posted on the screen the next break.

Now I have a partner too to help share expenses. So I guess I’d better get busy and put in practice what I’ve learned.

My week in review (public Blog)

11/8/2008 4:48:13 AM

It’s Saturday and it’s been quite a week here at the Holter’s and in our nation as a whole. This last week our new president elect, Mr. Obama , was chosen by our country to become our next President of The United States of America, the greatest nation on this planet earth. I’ll be praying for him! He won in an almost landslide vote. History will determine whether he’ll be a good President or not. I predict he’ll be worse than Jimmy Carter with his liberal policy. I for one am in conservative exile, as my good radio friend, Sean Hannity, likes to say. We need to support our new President, but at the same time we need to keep Mr. Obama’s feet to the fire when it comes to issues regarding the future of our country.

Locally, Sally and I are continually trying to get out of debt. I am offering my knowledge to help set up a Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University class at our church. I am merely the messenger. I’ll load the DVD’s and CD’s for that week.

We had a little transportation expense called a 73 Ford truck. I went to start it the other day and it would not start. Come to find out, the ole’ truck needed a carburetor tune up to the tune of $1,200 ! Oh Well. That’s why we have an emergency fund, as my beloved Sal explained to me.

There’s all kinds of weather taking place in my home state of South Dakota. I guess Rapid City got dumped on!

Our cable TV has gone on the fritz. Guess a phone call is in order.

Enough of my rambling. Guess I’ll post this to my blog.

I have many blogs to choose from. Of course the #1 blogs on the Internet is our economy! The war on terror has taken back door. Our enemies are thrilled. I f you want to know more on my political leanings, merely surf on over to and learn more. I’m afraid our country is headed towards socialism and I for one don’t like it.
What can we do as concerned citizens? For one we can create our own blog. For those not computer savvy we can call our friends, neighbors, strangers, etc. about the error of our leaders ways.

I feel that our leaders are not following scripture.

Here endeth my little blurb about my blog.

I’m in exile. My political ideologies have been submerged in the recesses of my brain. In listening to Sean Hannity conservative radio, I can relate. I will write my opinions and post them to my blog. I’ll continue to make conversation with the folks and give them our business card. The stamp is on the back and hopefully somebody will want to join us in this wonderful business.

One of my bucket lists numbers can be scratched off .. at least partially. The ole’ truck, my hearse needed a little repair work to the tune of 11K. I guess we can use that for our emergency fund..

Need to get my laptop keyboard fixed too.

Well he did it. I’m talking about Obama being our next President. My
Guy did not win. Are we ready for a socialist government? We’ll see.

Throw the bums out! That what this election is all about. The reason McCain lost is because of the free fall at Wall St. and the resulting 401K’s turning into 101K’s. This is the reason the incumbent Republican’s were thrown out.

My heart goes out to those folks whose retirement systems have been ruined by the greedy Wall St. CEO’s. If McCain told the folks, I’m going after those greedy folks to justice, named names and stumped that in his speeches, perhaps the results might have been different.

The fairness doctrine is also perhaps coming to the front also. Goodbye conservative talk radio. Goodbye Rush Limbaugh/Sean Hannity/Jim Cates (KMAJ/am radio) and all those other conservative radio folks too.

What might happen is that these radio shows that are currently conservative will also need to have a liberal person sharing the mike I would be like Sean Hannity needing to share the mike on RADIO with Alan Colmes. They all ready have FOX TV news called Hannity and Colmes. So we’ll see what the future of our country takes place with a liberal Democrat in charge. Our country is broke and in debt. How Mr. Obama can expect to turn it around is beyond my pay grade.

Our church is going to sign on to Dave Ramsey’s financial peace university this month. That’s a good thing. I’ll be the techy guy loading the software for the 13 weeks in advance. Cherish Allhouse will be handling the starting up system. I’m going to be a marketer and an IT nerd.

I’m excited about sharing my knowledge about FPU and it’s various websites, etc.

My laptop keyboard is acting up. I need to have this hardware problem fixed.

Well, today is Election Day.

I had all ready advanced voted this Presidential election year because I thought maybe I would be called up to work. The phone call did not happen.

Never in my lifetime could I recall so much difference of the candidates.

Do we want a SOCIALISTIC OR A CAPITALISTIC government?

You make the decision. I all ready have.

I have more important things to do today, like post to my public blog and also try to get organized here at home.

Judas Asparagus

Judas Asparagus

A child was asked to write a book report on the entire Bible.

This brought tears of laughter to my eyes.

I wonder how often we take for granted that children understand what we are teaching???

Through the eyes of a child:

The Children's Bible in a Nutshell

In the beginning, which occurred near the start, there was

nothing but God, darkness, and some gas. The Bible says,

'The Lord thy God is one, but I think He must be a lot older than that.

Anyway, God said, 'Give me a light!' and someone did.

Then God made the world.

He split the Adam and made Eve. Adam and Eve were naked,

but they weren't embarrassed because mirrors hadn't been

invented yet.

Adam and Eve disobeyed God by eating one bad

apple, so they were driven from the Garden of Eden.

Not sure what they were driven in though, because they didn't have cars.

Adam and Eve had a son, Cain, who hated his brother as long

as he was Abel.

Pretty soon all of the early people died off, except for Methuselah, who lived

to be like a million or something.

One of the next important people was Noah, who was a good guy,

but one of his kids was kind of a Ham. Noah built a

large boat and put his family and some animals on it. He asked

some other people to join him, but they said they would

have to take a rain check.

After Noah came Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Jacob was more

famous than his brother, Esau, because Esau sold Jacob his

birthmark in exchange for some pot roast. Jacob had a son

named Joseph who wore a really loud sports coat.

Another important Bible guy is Moses, whose real name was

Charlton Heston. Moses led the Israel Lights out of Egypt

and away from the evil Pharaoh after God sent ten plagues on

Pharaoh's people. These plagues included frogs, mice, lice,

bowels, and no cable.

God fed the Israel Lights every day with manicotti. Then he gave them His Top Ten Commandments.

These include: don't lie, cheat, smoke, dance, or covet your

neighbor's stuff.

Oh, yeah, I just thought of one more:

Humor thy father and thy mother.

One of Moses' best helpers was Joshua who was the first

Bible guy to use spies. Joshua fought the battle of Geritol and

the fence fell over on the town.

After Joshua came David. He got to be king by killing a

giant with a slingshot. He had a son named Solomon who had

about 300 wives and 500 porcupines. My teacher says he was wise,

but that doesn't sound very wise to me.

After Solomon there were a bunch of major league prophets.

One of these was Jonah, who was swallowed by a big whale and then

barfed up on the shore. There were also some minor league

prophets, but I guess we don't have to worry about them.

After the Old Testament came the New Testament. Jesus is the

star of The New. He was born in Bethlehem in a barn.

(I wish I had been born in a barn too, because my mom is always saying

to me, 'Close the door! Were you born in a barn?' It would

be nice to say, 'As a matter of fact, I was.')

During His life, Jesus had many arguments with sinners like

the Pharisees and the Republicans.

Jesus also had twelve opossums. The worst one was Judas Asparagus.

Judas was so evil that they named a terrible vegetable after him.

Jesus was a great man. He healed many leopards and even

preached to some Germans on the Mount.

But the Republicans and all those guys put Jesus on trial before
Pontius the Pilot. Pilot didn't stick up for Jesus. He just washed his hands instead.

Anyways, Jesus died for our sins, then came back to life again.

He went up to Heaven but will be back at the end of the

Aluminum. His return is foretold in the book of Revolution.

Yes indeed, today is our mother’s 95th birthday!

I trained her well J

Here I am at mom’s old place in Bruce, now purchased by my sister Julie & her beloved husband John Anderson. I’m writing this from a kitchen table and drinking coffee. It doesn’t get any better than this!

Today, all the family is going to descent on Greenleaf Assisted living in Brookings SD and honor our mother with accolades of some sort, be it cards, hugs, or whatever means of expressions us norVeguns are allowed to express without getting too mushy.

I guess I’ll save this to my public folder and now make a new folder/file file name.

OK .. I did it. If I’m dead, you can retrieve this computer from John Holter and go to
C:\mydocuments/… public-20081101 being the file name.

Where was I?

Oh ya, I’m writing about our mother.

I chatted with the owner/operator of Greenleaf when we surprised mom the other day and told her about how many relatives to expect. I guess my number is rather low according to Delpha. So we’ll see come this afternoon how many of our relatives are going to be showing up.

Yesterday Mark and I took an inventory of St. Petri cemetery. I took some pictures and mark recorded their names. When I get back to my Internet ready home, I plan to make a web page from the photos. I’ll probably place them in my account.

Later on this AM , I’m planning to go to the church next door and

11/2/2008 5:30:55 AM

And what?

You never finished your sentence! Shame on you! J Mrs. Bombeck would be ashamed!

I’m writing this in the third person and I’m beating up on myself for yesterdays writings.

Yesterday was indeed a historic event.

My mother turned 95 and she had over a 100 people come to wish her a happy birthday at the Greenleaf assisted living quarters in Brookings SD.

I took lots of pictures. Now I just need to get them on our web when Mark & I get back to Topeka and my Internet ready connection.

We visited with lots of relatives and friends. It was indeed a day that will live in infamy in my lifetime.

Joanne Holter has been designated our official photographer. I’m just a blogger. Visit our web and learn more for those of you who would like to blog with me.

Now we need to think about making a trip to Omaha, then home. The presidential election is coming this Tuesday and I’ve volunteered to be an election worker for Shawnee county Kansas. I’m an alternate and may or may not be called. If I get called, it will be a very long day indeed.

This has been the most contentious presidential election in my history. There’s lots of mud slinging going on in both parties and I for one am tired of hearing all of it.

This election boils down to two ideologies: CAPITIALISM vs. SOCIALISM

It is not any simpler than that. I’m afraid our country is headed for Obama’s socialism party, the Democratic Party. Then if the Democratic congress wins the majority of the house and senate, we’re all in big DODO! We can only PRAY!

Well , I guess I’ll shut down this laptop and get ready to head to brother Corks.

See ya on the flip side.
