THINK

THINK!

8/31/2009 5:10:39 AM

Think Before you speak!

That is my thought about my blog today.

I have an old Indian plague hanging in our family room that follows:

“Be careful of the words you speak.
Try to make them soft and sweet,
You never know from day to day
Which ones you’ll have to eat.”

We purchased this plague from Wall Drug, Wall SD years ago. Now with the Internet and all it’s communication methods, we should ALL take this wise advice.

DEFAMING SOMEONE ONLINE COULD BE COSTLY:

In yesterday’s paper I read an article by Kathleen Parker w/ the Washington Post regarding this very subject.

I couldn’t agree with her more!

She is with the Washington Post Writers Group and her email address is

kathleenparker@washpost.com

If you email her, I’m sure she reads her emails but does not rely.

This article hit home.

I too try to write with a positive slant on life.

Remember, I’m a “YUST” a follower of Jesus and an Internet Writer.

Senator Roberts

You may have already received this letter from Senator Roberts, but since you live in the Leavenworth area, I thought I would pass it along. Be sure to click on "GITMO" and sign the 'Petition' to Barack Obama that we do not want the Detainees housed in Kansas.

The Roberts Report
August 27, 2009

Guantanamo Bay (Gitmo) Detainees
Senator Pat Roberts continues to fight against the notion of moving the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to Ft. Leavenworth, KS amid Obama Administration statements saying Ft. Leavenworth is under consideration not only to house the detainees, but also to be the site for the federal criminal trials and military commissions to prosecute terrorism suspects. Exhausting all legislation options, Senators Roberts and Brownback placed legislative "holds" on key Administration appointees to the Departments of Defense and Justice until they receive answers from the Department of Defense and Justice Department.

The entire Kansas Congressional Delegation sent a letter to invite President Obama and his Gitmo task force to Ft. Leavenworth to see firsthand that housing detainees there or using it as the site for the federal trials and military commissions is dangerous for the community and logistically unreasonable. The delegation is united against this idea and cited in the letter to President Obama the total lack of local support for such a proposal and the many security risks it raises for Kansas communities. Additionally, they urged Obama to visit the existing facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to fully understand what it means to put a facility like Gitmo in the middle of our American communities.

Kansans can join Senator Roberts in opposing the closing of the detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and the transfer of terrorists to American communities such as Leavenworth, Kansas, by visiting the Senator's homepage and clicking on the "Gitmo" button on the lower left side at the following web address: http://roberts.senate.gov/

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

400 New Jobs to Leavenworth VA
Senator Roberts along with Senator Brownback and Representatives Jenkins, Moran and Tiahrt announced that the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) selected Leavenworth's Dwight D. Eisenhower VA Medical Center Campus to be the new home of a VA Consolidated Patient Account Center for the central plains region, bringing 400 jobs to the area. Patient Account Centers handle billing, insurance verification, accounts receivable management, and cash management at seven regional centers. This center will be housed in buildings listed on the National Historic Register, further preserving the history and architecture of the Eisenhower campus.

"Leavenworth is the ideal place for this center. We have the buildings, a welcoming community and a proud history of service to our nation's veterans. Not only will the center find a great home on this historic campus, it brings good paying jobs and helps to support the local economy during these tough times," Roberts said.

Remembering Scott Speicher
After a decade of work on behalf of Navy pilot Captain Michael "Scott" Speicher, Senator Roberts and Sen. Bill Nelson (D-FL) introduced and the Senate passed a resolution honoring Speicher following the discovery of his remains in an unmarked desert grave in July by United States Marines. The resolution encourages the Department of Defense (DoD) to finish their work on Scott's case and continue accounting for all who remain missing in action. It honors the Marines and all who worked to bring Captain Speicher home as he paid the ultimate sacrifice for his country.

"My thoughts and prayers are with the Speicher family. The perseverance of the Navy brings closure to Scott's family and all of us who have worked on his case after a long ordeal. As a fellow Marine, I am proud these Marines followed every lead and fought all the way to the end. This proves a military member cannot be listed as Killed in Action (KIA) without actual evidence, I call this the 'Speicher Law' for that reason. Thank you to the Defense Department for not giving up on Scott, a true American hero," Senator Roberts said.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pushing for Increased Trade with Korean Ambassador
In a recent meeting with the South Korean Ambassador Han Duk-soo, Senator Roberts and he discussed the currently stalled United States-Korea Free Trade Agreement (KORUS FTA) and expressed their mutual support for moving forward with the trade agreement. KORUS is the most economically significant trade agreement to be negotiated behind NAFTA. Nearly two-thirds of U.S. agricultural exports would become duty free on day one. Korea is a growing market for Kansas agriculture, machinery, transportation equipment and chemicals, and a key Asian country.

"The Korean market is a great opportunity for expanding trade for our farmers, ranchers, and manufacturers. I appreciated the chance to discuss the pending agreement with the Ambassador and look forward to working on a path forward that will work for both of our nations. As a member of the Senate Finance Committee which handles trade agreements, I will continue to work towards opening markets for U.S. producers and exporters," Senator Roberts said.

My FAITH

HEY! (I FOLLOW JESUS!)

Sunday, August 30, 2009

And if you disagree with me, I’ll hit you over the head with my bible.

I just heard on FOX/TV that there’s a young girl named Rijda or something like that that has fled from her parents.

Apparently she is afraid for her life for turning her life over to the Lord.

That story made me think of my own faith.

My parents MADE me go to church too. I learned since birth that Jesus died for me. I didn’t think anything-different back then and accepted my early church going as a necessary persuasion from mom and dad.

Unlike this young girl, my parents would not kill me if I were to decide to become something other than a Christian. I was baptized a Lutheran @ St. Petri church, Bruce SD.

If you want to know where my tombstone will eventually be placed, go to:

http://www.myownfaith2.com/bucket

I believe my hand written bucket list has been posted about a tombstone @ St. Petri

So I attend church regularly and many times I didn’t want to be at church.

Once, I was out partying with my friends and got home around 5:30 AM Sunday morning.

My mother was waiting for me. She had tears in her eyes. Of course church was a necessary function to attend, two hours later. I was NEVER in fear for my life.

I would like to thank my parents for MAKING me go to church, even when I didn’t want to go.

I would also like to thank my parents for not killing me.

My mother once was concerned that I dated a Catholic girl once.

Imagine that!

Here endeth my little testimonial.

Now if you’ll all excuse me, I’ve “gottta” go to church.

I love to attend church regularly.

Dr. Roy Column August 26-September 2 2009

Column for week of August 26-September 2 2009//689 words/from Bill Roy

We learned two things about health care legislation this month. One, Americans love a single-payer system; and, two, former South Dakota senator and Democratic Senate leader Tom Daschle, imbued with the longtime Washingtonian’s love of money and power, is leading reactionaries against true health care reform.

Seniors are showing up in droves at their congressperson’s town halls. They are frightened, sometimes about fictitious death panels, but nearly always about plans by their former friends, the Democrats, to divert dedicated Medicare money to commercial health interests.

Amazingly, many seniors do not know Medicare is a federal government program--or, as former speaker Newt Gingrich succinctly put it, “a private system with government funding,’’ prototypical of the system vigorously supported by Physicians for a National Health Program.

If many fellow Americans don’t identify Medicare as a government program, we can hardly expect them to identify Medicare as a single-payer program, with patient choice of doctor and hospital. This is not surprising considering the millions of dollars commercial health interests and the Republican party have spent to demonize single-payer systems, which is to say nearly every other health system in the world, but especially Canada and the United Kingdom.

This misinformation campaign prompted a20Canadian senator to call out Senator Mitch McConnell, Republican leader in the Senate, and ask him to quit lying about Canada’s Medicare program. The Conservative party leader in England made a similar request.

Bottom line: Intimidated Democrats refused to hold hearings on a single payer system, probably best called Medicare for all. As a result, their so-called reforms are probably going to do more harm than good.

For now they intend to “build on’’ our failing system of for-profit health insurance companies and voluntary employer-provided health insurance.--a system that leaves out 47 million Americans and is unknown to the rest of the world.

How can this happen? Well, not by accident, as explained in the August 23 New York Times.

It has been Daschle to Obama to Daschle to Obama. The talented Daschle was retired by South Dakota voters in 2004, the year Obama was elected to the Senate.

Daschle placed several temporarily unemployed staff members with Obama, including Pete Rouse, today one of Obama’s three senior White House advisers. Daschle then went about picking up his rewards for work well-done in Congress. Health care industries provided about half of his $5 million take.

Daschle became an early supporter of Barack Obama for president. Bingo, Obama won.

The busy young president literally turned the entire health franchise over to Daschle, naming him to dual positions, secretary of health and human services, and a new, undefine d White House position from whence he would run health care legislation. The fox was in the chicken house.

Daschle withdrew from Senate confirmation in February, 2008, because he had forgot to pay $130,000 in federal income taxes. But, by then he had in place his team that Secretary Kathleen Sebelius unfortunately inherited.
The most prominent is Lou-Anne DeParle, who inherited the White House half of Daschle’s health reform franchise. Ms. DeParle was a little late. She first had to extricate herself from a half dozen board positions of health care industries that had in common disputes with the federal government, and which, it is written, enriched her in the (nice) neighborhood of $6 million.

And so it goes. Sebelius brags health industry interests are at the table helping write new legislation, when in fact they are just arranging another tax-payer payoff. Meanwhile, they are paying millions to Daschle who identifies himself as a ’’resource,” or adviser, to such firms--and to his former colleagues, which some see as a conflict of interest.

The Times tells us “Friends and associates of Mr. Daschle say the interests of…clients have no influence on his views. They say he sees no conflict in advising private clients on one hand and advising the White House on the other, because he offers the same assessment to everyone.“

Guess what? Daschle “recommends and predicts an incremental approach” and tells his clients if the legislation can “ramp up” coverage for all, health information technology and some cost controls,‘’ we will have succeeded.” And how.

Ted Kennedy (1932-2009)

THE KING IS DEAD .. LONG LIVE THE KING!

8/26/2009 4:49:52 AM

Senator Kennedy died this AM.

I’m currently watching FOX/TV and Ted Kennedy passed this AM. I wish the family well.

Now the passing of an era has come to pass.

Here are my thoughts regarding the Kennedy family.

I first began following the news of the Kennedy’s back in the 1960’s.

John F. Kennedy, his older brother and our beloved President back then was assinated on Nov 21, 1963.

I remember that day like it was yesterday. I was sitting in a biology lab class, awaiting further instructions on what we’re going to cut up today. We cut up frogs, etc.

I next walked to the student union at SDSU, Brookings SD and watched the proceedings on a black and white TV screen. I then drove my 1961? Two door Chevy to Bruce SD. I stopped at Bud ‘n Mick’s Café and I remember telling a local the news.

I was a freshman at SDSU back then and we commuted from home.

The last person of the Kennedy legacy has now passed.

Who will take over?

The Kennedy family is like reading a Greek tragedy.

I’m thinking our current president, Barack Obama, (BO, my own nickname) is President now because of Senator Ted.

So the Kennedy family has been in our political life, unfortunately, our liberal life, for much too long.

RIP Senator.

Thanks for all the GOOD social programs you originated, like meals on wheels.

Of course, I’m a fiscal conservative, and I couldn’t agree with most anything he did.

My Journey to KCMO

MY JOURNEY:

8/25/2009 6:24:33 AM

My journey the last two days has literally taken me to Kansas City Missouri.

I commuted via automobile and used our GPS to get back and forth.

One of my many journeys in life is the market. I’ve been learning how to properly buy and sell options using the latest technology.

So I guess I’d better get busy.

Obama in Montana

More fear and more exposure by the day!!

I got this from a friend this morning. It is not only coming from Montana, but just about every
state in the Union. Bev

I could NOT verify this; found it only on a dozen blogs.... no evaluative sites like SNOPES; no news sites.
Many of you know I have a place in Montana and know people there. Here is a first hand account of Obama's recent Montana visit. My friend has asked to remain nameless but assures me the account in fully accurate.

Bozeman, MT:

By now you have probably heard that President Obama came to Montana last Friday. However, there are many things that the major news has not covered. I feel that since Bill and I live here and we were at the airport on Friday I should share some facts with you. Whatever you decide20to do with the information is up to you. If you chose to share this email with others I do ask that you DELETE my email address before you forward this on.

On Wednesday, August 5th it was announced locally that the President would be coming here. There are many groups here that are against his health care and huge spending so those groups began talking and deciding on what they were going to do. The White House would not release ANY details other than the date.

On about Tuesday Bill found out that they would be holding the meeting at the airport. (This is only because Bill knows EVERYONE at the airport) Our airport is actually located outside of Belgrade (tiny town) in a very remote location. Nothing is around there. They chose to use a hangar that is the most remotely located hangar. You could not pick a more remote location, and you can not get to it easily. It is totally secluded from the public.

FYI: We have many areas in Belgrade and Bozeman which could have held a large amount of folks with sufficient parking. (gymnasiums/ auditoriums). All of which have chairs and tables, and would not have to be SHIPPED IN!! $$$$$

During the week, cargo by the TONS was being shipped in constantly. Airport employees could not believe how it just kept coming. Though it was our President coming several expressed how excessive it was, especially during a recession. $$$$$

Late Tuesday/early Wednesday the 12th, they said that tickets would be handed out on Thursday 9am at two locations and the president would be arriving around 12:30 Friday.

Thursday morning about 600 tickets were passed out. However, 1500 were printed at a Local printing shop per White House request. 900 tickets just DISAPPEARED.

This same morning someone called into the radio from the local UPS branch and said that THOUSANDS of Dollars of Lobster were shipped in for Obama. Montana has some of the best beef in the nation!!! And it would have been really wonderful to help out the local economy. Anyone heard of the Recession?? Just think¦with all of the traveling the White House is doing. $$$$$ One can only imagine what else we are paying for.

On Friday Bill and I got out to the airport about 10:45am. The groups that wanted to protest Obama's spending and health care had gotten a permit to protest and that area was roped off. But that was not to be. A large bus carrying SEIU (Service Employees International Union) members drove up onto the area (illegal) and unloaded right there. It was quite a commotion and there were specifically 2 SEIU men trying to make trouble and start a fight. Police did get involved and arrested the one man but they said they did not have the manpower to remove the SEIU crowd.

The SEIU crowd was very organized and young. About 99% were under the age of
30 and they were not locals! They had bullhorns and PROFESSIONALLY made signs. Some even wore preprinted T-shirts. Oh, and Planned Parenthood fo lks were with them professing abortion rights with their T-shirts and preprinted signs. (BTW, all these folks did have a permit to protest in ANOTHER area)

Those against health care/spending moved away from the SEIU crowd to avoid confrontation. They were orderly and respectful. Even though SEIU kept coming over and walking through, continuing to be very intimidating and aggressive at the direction of the one SEIU man.

So we had Montana folks from ALL OVER the state with their homemade signs and their DOGS with homemade signs. We had cowboys, nurses, doctors you name it. There was even a guy from Texas who had been driving through. He found out about the occasion, went to the store, made a sign, and came to protest.

If you are wondering about the press. Well, all of the major networks were over by that remote hangar I mentioned. They were conveniently parked on the other side of the buildings FAR away. None of these crowds were even visible to them. I have my doubts that they knew anything about the crowds.

We did have some local news media around us from this state and Idaho. Speaking of the local media they were invited. However, all questions were to be turned into the White House in advance of the event. Wouldn't want anyone to have to think off the top of their head.

It was very obvious that it was meant to be totally controlled by the White House. Everything was orchestrated down to the last detail to make it appear that Mo ntana is just crazy for Obama and government health care. Even those people that talked about their insurance woes..the White House called our local HRDC (Human Resource and Development Committee) and asked for names. Then the White House asked those folks to come. Smoke and mirrors EVERYTHING was staged!!!!!!!!!!!

I am very dismayed about what I learned about our current White House. The amount of control and manipulation was unbelievable. I felt I was not living in the United States of America, more like the USSR!! I was physically nauseous. Bill and I have been around when Presidents or Heads of State visit. It has NEVER been like this. I am truly very frightened for our country. America needs your prayers and your voices. If you care about our country please get involved. Know the issues. And let Congress hear your voices again and again!! If they are willing to put forth so much effort to BULLY a small town one can only imagine what is going on in Washington DC. Scary!!

Now, if obama isn't attempting to harass and intimidate our population then what is he doing and are we going to allow this behavior to continue?

I guess it’s about time to join this organization. Sally & I keep getting literature from AARP and we keep throwing the solicitations away.

I just heard from FOX/TV that ASA is offering two years for the price of one. At least I should check out the web address, www.americanseniors.org

Mark and I are deep into painting our city barn.

For those of you not in the know, I built a city barn a few years ago. The dimensions are 16 x 20 x 15

The Topeka compliance department sent me a certified letter stating that I needed to paint it or demolish it. I chose to paint it.

I’ll do my video blog from our work site tomorrow ..( if I feel like it).

I abandoned downloading myownfaith2@myownfaith2.com to my Outlook Express email. I downloaded over 47,000 emails and the program still had over 11,000 emails yet to download. I elected to abandon this wasteful computer function.

There are more important things to do in my world.

REACHING OUT TO THE RELIGIOUS:

Now our BO president wants us to be our brother’s keeper. Why should that be on his agenda?

Mr. BO President ..

“DON’T TREAD ON ME”

You know that old saying from Father Flanagen from Boy’s town

“He’s not heavy, he’s my brother”

Well Mr. President, here’s my message to you and all your other well wishers.

My brothers are Wesley, Ronny & Dale.

They’re heavy! Now leave us alone.. OK?

God Bless,

My Journey

THE INTERNET:

8/20/2009 4:56:36 AM

The Internet is a powerful tool of communication.

Just yesterday our little www.topeka912project.com group met at a secret location here in Topeka KS.

We discussed our progress. I’m on the brochure committee.

Then I was finally able to download my emails from ONE of my many emails. You can spend too much time deleting 99.9 % of the junk/spam entering my inbox.

When one is a webmaster for my own faith 2 dot com one must also be aware of all those folks wanting your money.

BEWARE!

The good news is yesterday Mark and I were able to paint the city barn. We finished the north side. The neighbors are pleased .. maybe.

My daily listening to the Bible is doing very well too.

I’m into the gospel of Mark.

When I was visiting my mother and also participating in the Honey Days in Bruce SD, the Lutheran church was offering a CD on the new testament. I picked up a copy.

Guess I’ll save this and post to our web.

Last night I attended an American for Prosperity meeting. Kim Borchers was the host. We watched another series on Milton Friedman’s economic 101 theories. If only our government would listen! OH WELL

Also, Mark and I are in the process of painting our city barn. The city sent me a letter that I need to paint it or destroy it. I choose to paint it. My neighbor should be pleased. We have to paint in between raindrops. I appears to be rainy today.

Guess I’d better get busy.

Hi Myron:

I was unfortunately able to make it to Kansas because of other obligations but I am still working on my projects as stated. I am still looking forward to meeting you and of course interviewing you for the book I will be writing about men from all over the world. Once again if you know of someone worthy of such an honor please let me know and I will gladly consider them for this project. For this book I would like to video tape as well as record the up close and personal conversations with everyone.

If you know of a good nikon or canon camera sale with at least 10 pixel lens capability let me know I will also be doing my own

So nothing has changed if you go to my site you will see the upcoming books I am currently addressing "Poems of Spiritual Praise" and " "Afghanistan, Eyes Down Range" these books are on the way. You can access these books by going to www.authorhouse.com

On the flip side Myron how do you feel about veterans and veterans rights. Let's Talk. Let me know when you are ready. My phone 219-201-6190.

Mr. and Mrs. Citizen, my prayers are with your family at such a tragic time.

In response to memorial services for fellow citizens , no disrespect is intended. After over 23 years, the Stop the Violence Memorial Tree Dedication Committee Ministry's contribution has ever meant any disrespect to families or communities by holding a service for victims.

The memorial ministry services are gifts to communities across America. I explained myself and my motives for what I do across this county on the Jim Cates Show/Capital Journal on 11.10.2008

Mr. and Mrs. Citizen, I respect privacy, The memorial services are more about community awareness and violence and loss of life occurring around us, in hopes that the degrees of violence and loss of life might lessen.

As far as taking advantage of someone or an opportunity is ridiculous. This group or any I am involved with have never and will never ask for or accept any type of payment for our services.

To all those who commented on whether or not the Memorial Committee consulted with the family before acting, that is the procedure that has always been followed and it happened in this situation. No exploitation is involved with the agenda of the Stop the Violence Memorial Tree Dedication Committee Ministries. Because of the character assassinations (from now on, if there are problems, the family can call and state their concerns, then the service meant for a particular individual will turn into a nameless and facelee victim; that being the case, the media will be asked not to attend other than that it service as usual

As far as publicity goes, I nor the SVMTDC Ministries needs it or wants other than to let those those who have malice in their hearts know that any type of violence is not acceptable.

It is so easy for others to sit back, do nothing and critize others who are trying to make this a better world. So to all those who are criticizing me, what are you doing or have done to make this world better? After dedicating over 250 trees and 23 years of ministry speaking out against violence and loss of life, the naysayers comments seem suspect.

THOSE WHO CAN, DO, THOSE WHO CAN'T CRITICIZE!

To Paraphrase Former President Ronald Reagan: "A person once convinced that a particular course of action is the right one, must.....be undaunted when the going gets tough."

I Challenge my Generation to Inspire Future Generations.

Yours in Christ, Sonny Scroggins

Roy Column August 12-19 2009

Sent: Wednesday, August 12, 2009 9:12 PM
Subject: roy column 08 15 09

Column for week of August 12-19 2009//666words//from Bill Roy

For decades we have watched health care costs grow, knowing at some point the cost will break us all. Today, health care in America costs twice as much as food or housing, and will soon claim one of five dollars.

To control costs Democrats have come up with a plan of unproven parts which, even if passed, are unlikely slow health care spending growth a whittle. They have ignored proven cost control measures, and instead are relying on competition between a presently non-existent--and unlikely--public option and 1300 private insurance companies who presently are claiming 10-30% of every premium dollar.

To solve the other key problem, 47 million uninsured growing at one million a year, they propose to subsidize private insurance premiums for those who cannot afford increasingly expensive premiums.

President Barack Obama did not send proposed legislation to Congress, but rather asked five congressional committees to create legislation, which assured a toxic mix with dangling ideas ripe for bad-faith misinterpretations. The result is the perfect storm.

It defies belief that Democrats want to throw an additional $1.6 trillion over 10 years at a health care system that already costs twice as much as any other nation’s health care system, and yet does a mediocre job of achieving health and longevity.

This is a darn dirty shame because, excepting primary-care physic ians, we have all the human and physical resources necessary to provide the world’s best health care. But, we’re not getting it, just paying for it.

We’re in a huge hole and digging faster.

Why? Because members of Congress are intimidated by angry constituents who are frightened by what‘s in the legislation--and what is said to be in the legislation--and the fear of losing their cash cow, the $2.5 trillion health care industry that finances their campaigns, and provides them with million-dollar jobs after they leave the Congress.
0A
The result: We are the only nation in the world that is trying to build a health care system on private, for-profit health insurance voluntarily purchased by employers for their employees.

We have proved beyond any doubt the system doesn’t work, but we are keeping it because those who profit from it have demonized two excellent health care systems, American Medicare which pays for the health care of 47 million of us who are elderly, disabled, or have end-stage renal disease, and Canadian Medicare that covers every legal resident of Canada and gets better health results than we do with half the per capita expenditures.

And both American Medicare and Canadian Medicare are based on the one characteristic we want most, choice--choice of doctor, choice of hospital and choice to participate in our own care, rather than having our care dictated by profit-oriented insurance companies or bureaucrats.

Canadians have limited the potential problems of large bureaucracies by having each of their 15 provinces and territories administer their own health care system--a very good idea.

The essence of American (and Canadian) Medicare was described last Sunday by Newt Gingrich, former Speaker and current leading spokesman for his party, who said, “Medicare is basically a private system with government funding.”

We Americans overwhelmingly want pr ivate care, which we have with our Medicare, and Canadians have with their Medicare. I know from using our Medicare, and from visiting Canada several times to learn from their Medicare.

I came away like the Taiwanese who evaluated the world’s leading health systems nearly two decades ago and adopted the Canadian system for their country, with exemplary results.

We cannot have a Canadian system, but we can have a much better one based on principles of the 1964 Canadian Health Act, advocated by Tommy Douglas, who in 2004 was named greatest Canadian of all time by BBC.

If Obama and/or the Democratic Congress had begun with a clarion call for a universal, single payer system, like Medicare--which Gingrich accurately describes as a “private system with government funding”--we could be well on the road to the world’s best health care.

We are not, and we are worried.

Town Hall meeting w/ Paul Degener

8/12/2009 8:58:22 PM

I had the honor of riding with my fellow comrade, Paul Degener, to the Leavenworth KS county fair.

We attended the town hall forum. Paul was able to ask the first question.

I sat right next to him and videotaped the interview.

I will send this to anyone that cares.

Town Hall w/ Senator Sam Brownback

video

TOWN HALL MEETING:

8/11/2009 9:20:11 PM

While my video is uploading, I thought I would say a few words.

I just got back form a town hall meeting at a county fairgrounds forty miles east of our home.

Paul D. and I shared a ride to meet up with our Senator Sam Brownback.

The meeting started a little late as Sam wanted to be with his daughter, as her tonsils had just been taken out.

I had the privilege to video some of the “MOB”. I also took a few photos.

This video is one example of the “MOB” discussion in a good way.

Feel free to listen to this video and reply if you’d like.

TeaParty Commercial

video

This resulted from a Mom in Alabama asking her high school son to help with a commercial for the Tea Party she was involved in organizing.

Boy, does it slam the message home. Very impressive. Here is her note:
"I asked Justin if he could help me make a commercial for my group's Tea Party. He sat down at the laptop for about an hour, and then brought this to me and asked, 'is this okay, Mom?'
After I finished watching it, my stomach was in my throat.
Everyone that I have sent it to has really enjoyed it, so I
wanted my friends to see it. I am so proud!"

A very powerful video...turn up the sound & sit back....!!!

My MOB Interview

video

My MOBSTER interview has been interviewed by LENA .. er. Sally (my wife of many years).

LENA is associated with the SSP (Social Sassy Press) .. SSP

The video explains it all.

I'm wearing my RUSH Limbaugh t-shirt too. I wish my face to remain anonymous. You can see my ugly face in other web pages.

Now if you'll excuse me, I've gotta get back to my mission in life.

The BO WH will be visiting me soon, I'm sure.

I'll offer them a beer and we'll discuss JESUS.

Healthcare (Fact and opinions)

HEALTHCARE FACTS:

8/7/2009 3:36:28 AM

WOW !!!

My inbox in mholter@cox.net was inundated with stories and opinions about my global email I sent out the other day.

There’s too many to reply to individually.

So what I’m going to do is make a blog and subject it

HEALTHCARE FACTS.

But first I need to have some coffee in my system as I just got up

8/7/2009 3:41:15 AM

AAAHHHHHH !!!

That 1st cup of coffee in the morning is always so good!

Where do I begin?

Firstly, I’d like to set the record straight.

I’m an Internet Blogger and I post my writings through our owned website.

Our mission statement is to share our FAITH on the WEB. We share the same FAITH as Billy Graham.

The other day I received an email from Dr. Bill Roy. I did a “reply to all” and the firestorm of emails regarding healthcare come pouring back.

Never one to avoid a good discussion of ideas, I stated mine also.

Sometimes my opinions get in the way of facts.

My brother Dale H. corrected me on the England healthcare and I thanked him for his email reply.

A gentleman replied that the word is “stEnt” not stint. I probably got a spell check screen in my software program and went with stint.

SORRY .. I’m only human. Let me give my computer (Dell Inspiron 1300) laptop some training. I once had a sign over my computer at work.

“The computer is a wonderful invention, there’s just as many mistakes as ever, but it’s nobody’s fault”

I got some sarcastic replies and some were downright rude.

Many replies were very nice.

I NEED to clean out my Outlook Express inbox!!

UFFDA!

Here are the FACTS about my health, as I know it.

Sally & I are under the federal BCBS & a

8/7/2009 4:14:19 AM

WHERE WAS I?

My laptop rudely interrupted me with an automatic update. I’m thinking the white house wanted to know what I’m writing.

Did you know that our government wants to know what’s on our computers? They even have an email address to write to:

flag@whitehouse.gov

GO FIGURE!! Talk about an invasion of our privacy!

Where was I? .. OH YA, healthcare.

While I was awaiting the automatic update from Microsoft via the WH, I had a chance to get some more coffee and collect my writing thoughts.

I’ve decided to title this

HEALTCARE (Facts and opinions)

FACT:

I had a mild heart attack.

I was working at the “Y” here in Topeka KS and started to have a dull ache in the center of my chest cavity.

This was at Lenten season at our church in 2005, around Feb I believe. I was running as a candidate for mayor of Topeka KS back then.

Like any good NorVegun and not knowing the symptoms getting a heart attack, I thought I was having gas.

I finished my shift at the YMCA and proceeded to go to church. I sat in the back and pouted, feeling sorry for myself. I told Sally I’m going home as I’ve got a dull ache in the center of my chest cavity.

While driving home, I decided to stop at the DQ and ordered a banana split, thinking that that would fix me up.

DIDN’T HELP

I could barely finish my dessert and proceeded to invade our medicine cabinet. I took some aspirins and Rolaids, etc., still in denial.

When Sally came home from choir practice, I told her I’m going to bed a little early as I have this dull ache in the sternum. She asked me if I needed to call our Dr. I probably said something stupid like “I’m not dead yet” or something like that.

So I go to bed early and have a restless night. I get up many times, drinking milk and consuming more medicine, aspirin, etc.

The next morning I get a phone call from brother Dale. He tells me that he’s going in to get more stents (I added that word to my spell checker) in his system as I’m having chest pain.

I think I replied like, “I have chest pain too”

He probably said something like “You big dummy, if you’re having chest pain, you should call your Dr.”

So I had Sal call our provider. The nurse said for us to call the hospital. I had Sally call the hospital and they pretty much said the same thing.

By that time I was starting to become nauseus. (spell checker?) and brough along a barf bucket.

I was checked out my the ER nurse. They took an x-ray of my chest cavity and within an hour I was getting ONE stent in my body.

After spending a night in ER all hooked up they wheeled me to my hospital room.

That morning the Dr. cardiologist, Dr. Weyren, came to my room and drew a diagram of the operation to roto-rooter my artery.

He informed me that it’s a good thing I came in as the artery was 90 % blocked.

He then informed me that there were other blockages and I had a choice.

1) Open heart surgery
2) More stents.

I then informed the Dr. that I would do neither.

I told him that I was a RELIV distributor and I would like to take RELIV two-three times daily. I ADDED Cardioesstentials to my RELIV diet.

HERE ARE THE FACTS:

After about 5-6 weeks of religiously taking RELIV the medical folks could find NO BLOCKAGE!

I will ALWAYS take RELIV

OPINION:
Reliv is NOT a cure all, just good food.

These and other health stories will now be written about in a later blog.

My Health

HEALTHCARE:

8/6/2009 5:40:21 AM

Is it one word or two?

I could care less.

All I know is I’m very pleased with my healthcare.

Back in 2005, I had a mild heart attack. I would probably be dead right now if I were living in England.

Sally drove me to our local hospital here in Topeka KS, and within an hour the staff was placing a stint in one of my arteries.

The next day my cardiologist stopped by and drew my heart system on a piece of paper. He informed me that if I were to wait for another 24 hours I would have either been dead or suffered from a stroke. My artery was almost 90 % blocked. The artery was the one right next to the widow maker.

All my medical records are on file somewhere and anyone can check it out.

The Holter’s have a history of heart disease. My older brother Dale has had many stints placed in his heart system. My father died at the age of 69 falling off a ladder.
My uncles, cousins and blood relatives have various forms of heart trouble. We’re a bunch of physical wrecks.

If I was living or maybe “living” is the wrong word, in England, I’d probably be NOT living now.

Thank GOD for the USA healthcare system.

For the life of me, I don’t understand why our BO president wants to make it less caring.

I’m ashamed to mention that our former governor, Kathleen Sebelious, is now on the BO cabinet. (Body Odor) OH WELL.

Read my public blogs for more details.

God Bless,

healthcare (Dr. Roy column)

Column for week of March 5-12 2009//690 words//from Bill Roy

If reason trumped prejudices, 535 American visitors and their staffs and families would be spreading out over Canada this month of congressional recess here and cool weather there, seeking to learn how they provide health care for everyone at two-thirds what we spend to cover only 5/6 of our residents.

These are the men and women designated by this country to improve health care access and cut costs, tasks that have them completely bamboozled to date.

They would come home scratching their heads, dismayed the Canadian system is so darn simple and works so well. They would wonder why we have not done something similar sooner.

The first thing they would find out on their trip is about 8 of 10 Canadians think their health care system is better than ours. With 75% of their 33 million souls living within 90 miles of the border, and total American media access, they are in position to know.

Our congress-people also would find most Canadians are experts on health care, anxious to tell how their health care system could be better.

According to my college roommate, an Episcopal priest who somehow migrated from Upper Michigan into Ontario many years ago, their cherished health care makes or breaks most Canadian politicians. And, that is how it should be, because what is more critical to each of us than our family’s health and wellbeing?

Early on representatives and senators would probably wander into a medical clinic. They may feel disoriented because they cannot find a big, bustling business office run by more employees than are providing medical care.

Someone will tell them phone booth-size business offices are the standard around the world, because doctors and staffs are not dealing with 1300 private health insurance companies, American-style, each trying to siphon as many dollars as possible off the system--with success, 10-30% of premium, which is why there are 1300 of them.

They will find each Canadian has choice of physician, and, if necessary, choice of hospital or long-term care facility. They will also find patients who had trouble getting timely appointments, or have had to wait for some diagnostic procedures, specialty appointments, or non-emergency surgery. And don’t like it.

Some less-sophisticated congress-people may be abashed to find American residents in the waiting room. Canadian women who marry American men usually keep their Canadian citizenship because with it comes universal health care. Also, it gives them two chances at finding a primary care physician who is a coveted person on both sides of the border.

They will likely have lunch with doctors and health administrators. They will find physicians, who are mostly paid fee-for-service, earn about two-thirds that of their American counterparts, which is about four times the Canadian industrial wage. But they are very happy they can get pat ients the care they need without worrying about sending them into bankruptcy.

Among physicians, they will find many from nations of the British Commonwealth and other nations that train physicians in English-speaking medical schools. They will hear opinions about the pros and cons of going to the United States, and that they are staying in Canada because they like other things about their home, often having to do with education, natural beauty and a presumed tranquility.

Most hospitals are private religious or community-owned. They tend to be old by American standards, And most are paid on negotiated annual budgets, which are never enough.

Some members of Congress first would want to follow the money. Others would want to talk to small business-owners and their employees, or maybe visit a GM plant and talk to UAW members. Others should be off to public health clinics and learn from their personnel.

Each stop there would be much to learn. But how many will do it?

Nearly all will stay home and be yelled at by constituents who don’t like any health legislation, any so-called government-run health care.

As long as they are going to be yelled at either way, they might as well try to do something worthwhile, like actually cut costs, accomplish universal coverage, and save a few thousand lives. It’s remarkably easy. The Canadians have done all the heavy lifting.

CREATE WEALTH

Yesterday after eating my favorite food, Chinese, at Hy-Vee, I read the fortune cookie inside and it said “You can prosper in the field of computers”

REALLY??!!

I guess that means I should continue what I do on a daily basis.

Every day I write on my computer and post to my blog.

Could that be it?

I also made a web page for Mark.

Could that be it?

Sally & I are RELIV distributors.

COULD THAT BE IT?

We own the web address www.myownfaith2.com

Could that be it?

We, (Sal & I) would like to share our FAITH with one and all. That’s our mission statement.

COULD THAT IT ??!!

I would like to think that that would be it.

Dear God

8/2/2009 5:33:22 AM

Dear God:

It’s been a while since I wrote to you my Lord. I know that you know my heart Lord. I silently pray to you daily in my heart. I say silently Lord as it’s just between you and me.

My life has the various emotions. Most of the time, I’m at peace with myself knowing that I’ll be with you someday my Lord. I’m ready any day to meet up with you my Lord.

I’ve been watching my aunt Ruth’s funeral CD and I find it very inspiring.

Ruth Billman passed away last Dec 2008. Her daughter Carol (Billman) Freeman sent us a video CD. My relatives are ALIVE in the Lord! I would have liked to been there.

There was many reasons why I could not make the funeral. The #1 reason was Minneapolis MN was under a severe winter storm at the time. I heard on the news that cars were slipping off the Interstate. I respect the weather.

I would have LOVED to drive my mother to her younger sister’s funeral.

I could have told many stories about my aunt Ruth and how the Billman’s affected our lives.

Now we scroll to our OSLC church friends.

We had some drinks last night with the Parkers, Pewes, & the Sicks.

We met at a bar @ 21st & Gage called ??, the name escapes me.

I am really disappointed in our life long friends regarding our relationship with our pastor.

She wants to have two days off to be with her children. I see nothing wrong with that.

Apparently our church is going through conflict. Could there be members leaving because of this conflict? I certainly hope not.

If only our church friends had the grace that my aunt Ruth lived in her life.

Dear God, I pray every day for my estranged son John and his lovely wife Kim. Please soften their hearts towards me. I grieve daily in losing a son.

That’s about it for today my Lord.

Thank you GOD for sending your son Jesus to die for us.

Your servant,

Myron@myownfaith2.com

Topeka Friedman Luncheon

Milton Friedman had a birthday party the other day. I received this photo to my inbox.

Here is the email:

Mr. Holter -- Thanks so much for coming out to the lunch yesterday. Here is a photo of the group -- I apologize for not sending yesterday but I didn't have my cord to transfer the photos to my computer at work, and didn't get around to it once I got home last night.

Have a great weekend,
