THINK! 8/31/2009 5:10:39 AM Think Before you speak! That is my thought about my blog today. I have an old Indian plague hanging in our family room that follows: “Be careful of the words you speak. Try to make them soft and sweet, You never know from day to day Which ones you’ll have to eat.” We purchased this plague from Wall Drug, Wall SD years ago. Now with the Internet and all it’s communication methods, we should ALL take this wise advice. DEFAMING SOMEONE ONLINE COULD BE COSTLY: In yesterday’s paper I read an article by Kathleen Parker w/ the Washington Post regarding this very subject. I couldn’t agree with her more! I just heard on FOX/TV that there’s a young girl named Rijda or something like that that has fled from her parents. Apparently she is afraid for her life for turning her life over to the Lord. That story made me think of my own faith. My parents MADE me go to church too. I learned since birth that Jesus died for me. I didn’t think anything-different back then and accepted my early church going as a necessary persuasion from mom and dad. Unlike this young girl, my parents would not kill me if I were to decide to become something other than a Christian. I was baptized a Lutheran @ St. Petri church, Bruce SD. THE KING IS DEAD .. LONG LIVE THE KING! 8/26/2009 4:49:52 AM Senator Kennedy died this AM. I’m currently watching FOX/TV and Ted Kennedy passed this AM. I wish the family well. Now the passing of an era has come to pass. Here are my thoughts regarding the Kennedy family. I first began following the news of the Kennedy’s back in the 1960’s. John F. Kennedy, his older brother and our beloved President back then was assinated on Nov 21, 1963. I remember that day like it was yesterday. I was sitting in a biology lab class, awaiting further instructions on what we’re going to cut up today. We cut up frogs, etc. I next walked to the student union at SDSU, Brookings SD and watched the proceedings on a black and white TV screen. I then drove my 1961? Two door Chevy to Bruce SD. I stopped at Bud ‘n Mick’s Café and I remember telling a local the news. I was a freshman at SDSU back then and we commuted from home. The last person of the Kennedy legacy has now passed. The dimensions are 16 x 20 x 15 The Topeka compliance department sent me a certified letter stating that I needed to paint it or demolish it. I chose to paint it. We discussed our progress. I’m on the brochure committee. Then I was finally able to download my emails from ONE of my many emails. You can spend too much time deleting 99.9 % of the junk/spam entering my inbox. When one is a webmaster for my own faith 2 dot com one must also be aware of all those folks wanting your money. BEWARE! The good news is yesterday Mark and I were able to paint the city barn. We finished the north side. The neighbors are pleased .. maybe. My daily listening to the Bible is doing very well too. TOWN HALL MEETING: 8/11/2009 9:20:11 PM While my video is uploading, I thought I would say a few words. I just got back form a town hall meeting at a county fairgrounds forty miles east of our home. Paul D. and I shared a ride to meet up with our Senator Sam Brownback. The meeting started a little late as Sam wanted to be with his daughter, as her tonsils had just been taken out. HEALTHCARE: 8/6/2009 5:40:21 AM Is it one word or two? I could care less. All I know is I’m very pleased with my healthcare. Back in 2005, I had a mild heart attack. I would probably be dead right now if I were living in England. Sally drove me to our local hospital here in Topeka KS, and within an hour the staff was placing a stint in one of my arteries. The next day my cardiologist stopped by and drew my heart system on a piece of paper. He informed me that if I were to wait for another 24 hours I would have either been dead or suffered from a stroke. My artery was almost 90 % blocked. The artery was the one right next to the widow maker. All my medical records are on file somewhere and anyone can check it out. The Holter’s have a history of heart disease. My older brother Dale has had many stints placed in his heart system. My father died at the age of 69 falling off a ladder. My uncles, cousins and blood relatives have various forms of heart trouble. These are the men and women designated by this country to improve health care access and cut costs, tasks that have them completely bamboozled to date. They would come home scratching their heads, dismayed the Canadian system is so darn simple and works so well. They would wonder why we have not done something similar sooner. Her daughter Carol (Billman) Freeman sent us a video CD. My relatives are ALIVE in the Lord! I would have liked to been there. There was many reasons why I could not make the funeral. The #1 reason was Minneapolis MN was under a severe winter storm at the time. I heard on the news that cars were slipping off the Interstate. I respect the weather.
